Hailika’as Heiltsuk Health Centre is a fully accredited Health Centre located on the central coast of British Columbia right in the heart of the great bear rainforest. We are heading into our 22nd year of operation. We are funded by the First Nations Health Authority and have a working relationship with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.

Maternal Child Health Program Hnis’u Assistant

Position Description:

We are currently seeking to fill the position of Maternal Child Health Program Hnis’u Assistant (Hnis’u
Assistant), within the Maternal Child Health Program. Hnis’u (pronounced Ah-Neece-oo) means Auntie
whom I hold close to my heart in the Heiltsuk language.
Under the direction of the Maternal Child Health Program Hnis’u (Hnis’u), the successful candidate will
assist in providing support to families to access resources in the community to raise healthy sasum
(children aged 0-6) in an environment of safety, growth and learning.

  • Assist in exposing sasum to Heiltsuk language and culture
  • Plan and organize weekly activities for participants
  • Provide childminding for events
  • Provide childminding for other departments as needed and approved by the Hnis’u
  • Support the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in providing services to families
  • Planning, communicating and executing departmental events that support families and
    sasum
  • Actively participates with client and staff safety initiatives and activities
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal and business information
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with HHHCS policies
  • Performs other duties as required

 

Part-Time Homemaker

 Position Description:

We are currently seeking to fill the position of Part-Time Homemaker within the Home and
Community Care department to commence as soon as possible. Under the direction of the
Home and Community Care Program Manager, the successful candidate will work as a member
of the Home and Community Care team to provide homemaker services to community
members.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow the care plan developed to meet the needs of the clients
  • Assist clients with homemaking, meal and food preparations
  • Help client to move around safely
  • Report to Home and Community Care Program Manager any changes in clients’
    physical condition, behavior or appearance
  • Recognize safety issues and respond accordingly
  • Ability to identify unsafe conditions and report incidents to the Community Care
    Program Manager
  • Participates as a member of the Home and Community Care department team
  • Actively participates with client and staff safety initiatives and activities
  • Maintains confidentiality of personal and business information
  • Actively participates with accreditation and other continuous improvement related
    activities
